I feel like this misses what's already the primary value-add of explainer posts in the current day: curation. If you have a fixed thing in mind that you want to learn about, current AI is pretty good. But when it comes to discovering interesting, novel information, LLMs lag behind. Even a social media feed-- which, if I recall, is some sort of ML model explicitly designed to show you engaging stuff-- doesn't really work that well: as I'm sure many can attest, you can discover more new and interesting ideas scrolling through the backlog of any decent blogger than by doomscrolling on social media.

This fact especially makes me hopeful that writing-as-curation will survive for a while: current systems designed explicitly for curation are just not that good as of right now.

Argument 8: curation! I follow you because you bring to my attention things I am interested in, that I never asked for, and AI isn't very good at that yet.
